3.1 / 3400 Hybrid V6

In the Beginning

Before the 3400 engine was introduced as a direct swap into the jbody platform, engine mods that made any real power were few and far between. I cannot say for certain the trivialities and tinkering which the first people to try getting more power out of the 3.1L v6 had to go through but i can say it must have been frustrating. My knowledge stems from entering the jbody scene in early 2003 and doing as much research as i could on a couple of the main gm, jbody and v6 forums. Talking with the "experts" who had experience seemed to net the greatest "real" results. If my memory serves me correct, Colin Bulloch was the first person to sucessfully create a cross engine between the old gen2 v6 block and the 3x00 top end and put it in his sunbird gt.
